These quick and easy air-fryer apple fritters are great for breakfast, brunch, or a late-night snack. They come together in just a few minutes and can be made in a dorm room or small apartment without an oven. We like to think of them as the best comfort dessert of all. Plus, they bake in just 6-8 minutes!
Yield: 18 2-inch fritters
Melted butter, about 1/4 cup (for frying)
2 cups Panhandle Milling All Purpose Flour
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1-1/2 tsp. Pumpkin pie spice
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 cup milk
2 large eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 medium Honeycrisp apples, peeled and chopped
¼ cup butter, melted
2 cups confectioners’ sugar
3 Tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Line the air-fryer basket with non-stick aluminum foil (cut to fit); spritz with cooking spray—Preheat the air fryer to 410°.
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, spices, and salt in a large bowl. Add milk, eggs, and vanilla; stir just until moistened. Fold in apples.
Drop dough by ¼ cup, 2 inches apart, onto the air-fryer basket in batches. Cook until lightly browned, 4-5 minutes. Using a pastry brush, coat each fritter lightly with melted butter. Turn fritters; continue to air-fry until rich golden brown, 2-3 minutes.
Melt ¼ cup butter in a small saucepan ( or microwave) over medium-high heat. Carefully cook until butter starts to brown and foam, 5 minutes.
Remove from heat; cool slightly.
Add confectioners’ sugar, Milk, and vanilla to browned butter; whisk until smooth. Drizzle over the fritters before serving.
